RURAL RiSE will celebrate its final event on 10 June 2026 in Brussels, under the title Made in Rural Europe: From Plans to Action.
The event will bring together project partners, participants and organisations from Italy, Serbia and Spain to share the main outcomes of the project and present the Local Action Plans developed for their rural communities. It will be a space for networking, learning and exchange on how rural areas can move from planning processes to concrete action.
The event will take place at the Maison des Associations Internationales, Rue Washington 40, Brussels, from 09:30 to 12:40 CEST.
From plans to action
Over the course of the project, RURAL RiSE has supported capacity building, transnational cooperation and local co-design processes aimed at strengthening the role of the Social Economy in rural development.
The final event will present how local authorities, Social Economy organisations and community stakeholders have worked together to identify challenges, build shared strategies and develop Local Action Plans adapted to their territories.
These plans focus on key rural challenges such as youth and women’s unemployment, depopulation, access to skills, green jobs and the creation of more inclusive and sustainable local development models.
A European exchange on rural Social Economy
The event will open with breakfast and networking, followed by a welcome session with Magdalena Kleim, DG GROW, who will address related projects and the future of the Single Market Programme.
The programme will then continue with three territorial case studies:
Italy: Miglionico and MateraHub will present their work on designing rural futures through the Social Economy.
Serbia: Young Ambassadors and Palilula will share key outcomes and the results of their Local Action Plan.
Spain: Wazo Coop and the Municipality of Valdefuentes will present a co-designed strategy addressing youth and women’s unemployment, as well as depopulation in rural areas.
The event will close with conclusions, a Q&A session and a final wrap-up.
Local Action Plans for stronger rural communities
The Local Action Plans developed within RURAL RiSE are one of the key results of the project. They are designed as practical tools to support rural communities in identifying priorities, connecting stakeholders and defining actions that can strengthen local resilience.
By combining local knowledge with transnational learning, RURAL RiSE has promoted cooperation between municipalities and Social Economy organisations as a way to create more inclusive opportunities for rural territories.
About RURAL RiSE
RURAL RiSE – Rural Reskilling and upskilling for Social Enterprises is a European project co-funded by the European Union under the Single Market Programme.
The project aims to reinforce education, training and skills development activities for unemployed people in rural areas, with a particular focus on young people and women. It promotes the Social Economy as a driver for sustainable rural development, green jobs, inclusion and community participation.
The project also integrates the values of the New European Bauhaus: sustainability, inclusion and quality of life in local territories.
